Hello, and welcome to the Barry Melrose Rocks NHL Stanley Cup Preview. It’s a good thing that Mr. Henning is such a good editor, because I am Swiss, and though my English is decent, I am still a natural German speaker. If you don’t know who I am, well, let me tell you a thing or two about me. I was drafted in the 2011 draft by the Calgary Flames, and I have played parts of the past two seasons with the NHL club. If you were wondering, I’ve been interested in getting into writing and maybe one day, the sports media.
Obviously, the Rangers are the known quantity in the finals at this time. They have a hot scorer in Marty St. Louis and an even hotter goaltender in Henrik Lundqvist. They had some depth issues throughout the season, and I worry about that becoming an issue as the Rangers play into June. Where will the goals come from? Where will the grit and determination come from? I suspect that they will have it tough no matter who wins the western conference finals.
The western conference will send a team with playoff experience, no matter what ends up happening. Even though the Blackhawks, in my opinion, have the clearly better roster, they obviously have a bit of work to do. As I am writing this, they are ahead in Game 6, but they still need to win it. The Kings have playoff experience and the stars that can make it happen, from Carter to Richards to Gaborik, but I think that — Hey, what’s happening to my picture?
Oh. I see. Well, I did win a prize back in Langethal for having the “Most broken nose” in my city, so I guess this doesn’t hurt too bad.
