Puck Dumps 10/2/13

Welcome to the first installment of Puck Dumps, Barry Melrose Rocks' new daily feature. There will be three sections: The Top Line, the story that is the headline on the most sites from ESPN, NBC, Yahoo, Sports Illustrated, Sporting News, TSN, CBC, Fox and NHLcom. Second will be the Scoreboard, with a look at the scores from the night before, and finally, the Tweet of the Moment, which is simply a look at the most recent team sponsored tweet on the NHL Twitter feed. If nothing else, this should convince you to follow only @Loser_Domi, @Victoriawxrhino or @BMR_Blog. I hope you like it!)

The Top Line

George Parros fought Colton Orr last night, and it didn't end well for him, as he fell face first to the ice and ended up hospitalized. Links: Yahoo!, TSN, CBC, Fox  The Local Take

Toronto 4 – Montreal 3 – Not only did the Canadians lose George Parros and his venerable mustache, they lost the season opener to their most hated rivals.

Chicago 6, Washington 4 – Mikhail Grabovski scored a hat trick for Washington, but it was in a losing effort. Pretty cool to see a cross conference game though, right?

Winnipeg 5, Edmonton 4 – The Jets scored two in the third to come back on the Oilers. Serves Edmonton right for being really mean to me that one time.

Tweet of the Moment

The Lightning have the first Tweet Of the Moment of the year, with a retweet of 2nd year player Radko Gudas. That's an admirable beard, Radko. Might as well grow it now, because you won't need to next spring.
